At first the Internet was designed for a hundred machines at most, but nowadays the Internet is a success and the number of connected devices keeps growing up. The problem is that the Internet Protocol (IP) limits the number of devices able to connect to the Internet. This version of IP is called IPv4 and to get rid of these limitations a new version was created and normalized since 1994: IPv6. This protocol was officially launched on 2012; however it is almost not implemented.

The second point is that an important part of those devices is mobile. Indeed our smart-phones, tablets, laptops etc. are all connected to the Internet; today it represents nearly 7 billion devices on earth according to CISCO’s 2013 Global Mobile data forecast. Thereby this technology must use a mobile version of IPv6 (MIPv6).
